0This past weekend I was running around all over town and had my camera with me most of the time. I went to Ft De Soto beach to scout out a location for a future shoot (which will be pretty awesome) and stumbled across a couple interesting shots.
Later that day I went to my friend’s parents house who live on a lake. My intent was to do some astrophotography, but there was just too much light in the sky. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to photograph the Milky Way. I ended up just taking a couple shots of the lake and even did some light drawing. It was nothing too complex, but was still kinda fun.
On the way home after that I stopped and did yet another long traffic exposure. Nothing new but I enjoy doing long exposures of traffic at night. Also, the first shot is a portrait I did of a friend a couple months ago which turned out nicely.
The Brothers
1Ever since I bought my lighting setup, I’ve tended to leave them in my car trunk. The reason for this is because I’m never really sure when I’ll need good lighting. An example of this was recently when hanging out at a friends house. His brother was there and we decided to put the new camera to use. This shoot, like all others I guess, has some interesting aspects. These brothers have, in ways, opposite professions. One is trained to kill, and the other trained to heal. I’ll let you guess which is which.
Also this is the first time I’ve posted completely unedited photos. These are straight from the camera. Enjoy.
A New Day
0It’s a new day for me and this site as a whole. For a while I’ve been denying myself a better camera because I wanted to avoid thinking I could create better images just by upgrading my gear. Until recently I believed I hadn’t reached the limit of the camera I was using. Finally I decided to pull the trigger on the Nikon D7000. It’s going to be interesting to see how I can push this new camera. I went out this evening to a parking garage I’ve been looking at for a while to capture a great Florida sunset. If you like my work, hopefully you’ll like this new stuff even more.
My Desk
0As boring as the title of this blog is, it fits in with the boring nature of my desk. It’s a somewhat plain desk and functions mostly as a workplace. It has walls that form a cubicle and sits in a hall with others of its kind. There’s really nothing special about it. One day a fellow tie-wearing colleague brought in his Canon Eos 60D. I took it for a spin around my desk and this is the result. Oh and if you’re curious, the bobblehead is of Andrew W.K. who, no matter how the day is going, reminds me to party.
If you find an image you like in this series, let me know. It’s sort of difficult for me to know how others view my work, but I enjoy a couple of these shots for reasons I don’t understand.
Warmth
4This particular shoot had a unique twist to it. This was the first shoot with someone I didn’t know and didn’t meet until we shot. I tried to mix a couple different things this time. The weather that day was unusually cold for Florida. She had a look that made me want to add a sort of hipster look to it. I tried to walk a fine line between looking warm and aged without crossing over into true hipster modern polaroid.
Personally I think it came out nicely and I hope you agree.
